Susan Thompson Program Director, Educational Center 718-360-8171 sthompson@tpdomi.org Susan Thompson joined the Turning Point Educational Center in September, 2003, as a teacher, and became the Center's Program Director in 2006. Before that, Ms. Thompson was an adult literacy teacher and supervised a parenting program at the Stanley M. Isaacs Neigh- borhood Center. She also worked with children and parents through programs at the Brooklyn Public Library and the Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service. Prior to teaching adult literacy and parenting skills, Ms. Thompson was employed in the private sector. She has a B.A. in English Literature and received a Certificate in Adult Literacy from The New School. |
Eve Ammons-Johnson Program Director,The Outreach Center 718-360-8119 eammons@tpdomi.org Eve Ammons-Johnson is the Director of Turning Point's Outreach Center where she manages the HIV counseling and testing program as well as the Multi-Service Agency program which consists of HIV education, peer training, intervention and case management. Ms. Ammons-Johnson has over twenty-five years' experience working in health and human services with a concentration on public health issues. Her roles have spanned community health educator, substance abuse treatment counselor, HIV case manager, project coor- dinator, and director. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Brooklyn Outreach Worker's HIV & Prevention Network and aids in the coordination of its activities. Ms. Ammons-Johnson holds a Bachelor's in Health Science from Brooklyn College (CUNY) and a Master's of Science in Nonprofit Management from Eastern University's Campolo College of Graduate and Professional Studies in Pennsylvania. She participates on several health and social services-related committees, coalitions, and task forces. From 2000-2003, she served as a full voting member on New York City's HIV Prevention Planning Group, and spent two years as co-chair for that body's Women and Children's Workgroup. Ms. Ammons-Johnson recently served for five years as Coordinator of a regional Ryan White CARE Act HIV Care Network. |
Robert Yancey Program Director, Exodus 718-360-8146 ryancey@tpdomi.org Robert Yancey, a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), has over 18 years' experience in the human services field working for the NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation as well as in non-profit and for-profit substance abuse/chemically dependent service settings. He also holds certification in Non-Violent Crisis Inter- vention. He was educated at Medgar Evers College (CUNY). Mr. Yancey joined Turning Point's Exodus Treatment Program in 2000 as a Substance Abuse Counselor and rapidly progressed to Assistant Program Director. He was appointed Exodus Program Director in 2002. He currently manages the program's treatment and relapse prevention components, supervises a 14-member staff of social workers, counselors, case managers, and interns, and oversees Turning Point's on-site psychiatric services. Mr. Yancey is a member of the Brooklyn Treatment Court Clinical Advisory Board, the Community Action for Prenatal Care, and the OASAS Prevention Guideline Committee. He has contributed over 20 years of volunteer services in his community at the East River Community Center. |

Margaret Pemberton Program Director, Career Development 718-360-8159 mpemberton@tpdomi.org Margaret Pemberton has twenty years' experience working in adult and youth education. She has worked as a teacher, job developer, and a program coordinator. Before coming to Turning Point, she worked for Community of Unity, Inc and HANAC, Inc., where she had great success moving public assistance recipients to independence. She has a Master's Degree in Human Services from Lincoln University. |
