Raymond Figueroa Executive Director 718-360-8169 rfiguero@tpdomi.org Ray Figueroa has been with Turning Point since 1989 and has been rapidly promoted and given increased responsibilities. He began as an Assistant to the Executive Director and has served as Facility Manager, Housing Development Coordinator, Program Director, Director of Operations, and Deputy Executive Director. He has been responsible for the development of permanent low-income hous- ing opportunities, special needs housing (i.e., for people living with AIDS), and HIV/AIDS outreach and case management services in Red Hook. Mr. Figueroa was appointed Turning Point's Executive Director in March 2002. He has completed Pratt Institute's Community and Economic Development Internship Program and has also served as a panelist for the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) HIV Prevention Program Capacity-Building proposal. In 2004, Mr. Figueroa was one of ten recipients nationally of the prestigious Robert Wood Johnson Community Health Leadership Program Award. In 2005, he was honored on World AIDS Day at the United Nations as one of the first recipients of the National HIV/AIDS Partnership's "Red Ribbon" Leadership Award. In 2008, he was again honored by the Brooklyn Borough President as one of Brooklyn's leading Hispanic citizens. Mr. Figueroa is the President of SIBRO and President of the Board of Directors of the Brooklyn Outreach Workers (BOW) Network. |
Lenore Hildebrand Deputy Executive Director of Clinical Services 718-360-8167 lhildebr@tpdomi.org Lenore Hildebrand joined Turning Point in August 2002. She has a Doctorate in Social Welfare (her dissertation was on alcoholism and recovery) from Hunter College School of Social Work (CUNY), a Master's in Social Work from Fordham University's Graduate School of Social Service, and Certification in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis from the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health having com- pleted a four-year clinical training program. She also has a second Master's degree in English from New York University. A New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a SIFI-certified field instructor (Wurzweiler School of Social Work, Yeshiva University), Dr. Hildebrand has over 20 years combined experience as a clinician, administrator, educator, and consultant in health care, non-profit, and higher education settings. She has a proven record in staff supervision and training, program development, evaluation, technical assistance, and grantsmanship. Dr. Hildebrand is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the Council on Social Work Education, the National Organization of Human Services, the New York Association of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Providers, and the Postgraduate Psychoanalytic Society. She is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Human Services at New York City College of Technology (CUNY) and a field instructor at Hunter College School of Social Work and Fordham University. In addition, she is Co-Chair of the Policy Advisory and Education Committee of the Brooklyn HIV Care Network and a member of its Executive Committee, a member of the Needs Assessment Committee of the NYC HIV Planning Council, and recently completed a four-year term as a full member of the DOHMH's HIV Prevention Planning Group and Chair of its Immigrant Workgroup. |
Bruce Carmel Deputy Executive Director of Educational Services 718-360-8166 bcarmel@tpdomi.org Bruce Carmel did his post-graduate work at New York University where he received a Master's degree and a PhD in Education. He has worked as an educator for more than 25 years teaching in public schools, colleges, and universities, as well as libraries and community-based organizations. Prior to coming to Turning Point in 2003, he led the Queens Library's Adult Learner Program, the largest library literacy program in the United States. Dr. Carmel was the Curriculum Director for "TV411," an educational television series for adults. He created lesson plan units for PBS' Channel Thirteen's "Ed Online" and helped launch "firstfind.info," an online information library for adults with limited literacy. Dr. Carmel is the recipient of the Literacy Assistance Center's Literacy Recognition Award (2005). |

Pamela E. Ransom Deputy Executive Director of Housing 718-360-8147 pransom@tpdomi.org Pamela Ransom has been active as an environmentalist, planner, educator and community activist for many years. After completing her undergraduate education with honors at Harvard University and earning a doctorate from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Urban Planning with a specialization in housing, she served as Deputy Director of Town Planning for the Government of Jamaica. For over eight years, she was Special Assistant for Environmental Affairs for David Dinkins in both the Office of the Mayor and Manhattan Borough President. She then moved to international activism, serving as Director of Health and Environment for the Women's Environment and Development Organization. Throughout this period, she worked closely with former Congresswoman Bella Abzug, traveling extensively worldwide, speaking and organizing women at a variety of United Nations meetings and international confer- ences. She was on the faculty of Long Island University School of Business, Public Administration and Information Sciences teaching Public Administration first as an adjunct Assistant Professor and then full-time as Assistant Professor for eight years. She has also been active as a researcher, consultant and Board member for a wide variety of government agencies, professional, and community organizations. |
